Nearly as old as the smart grid itself.
With a history that dates back to 2000, you might think Ecologic Analytics is a newcomer to the smart grid market. But when you discover that the first large scale deployment of smart meters connected via low bandwidth power lines also happened in 2000, you realize Ecologic Analytics was among the earliest pioneers – particularly within the North American market. Today, the Ecologic Meter Data Management System (MDMS) is the largest deployed and longest running MDMS software package in North America.
You see, the people behind Ecologic Analytics were among the very first to recognize the need for a meter data management system market. And that was way back in the late 1990s. The team came to the table with real-world utility and AMI experience. Understand our founders weren't upstarts. They were veteran professionals, who understood the utility industry on a firsthand basis.
Key points in Ecologic Analytics history:
- 2001 - Ecologic Analytics implements the first MDMS for a large scale production environment at Puget Sound Energy, the longest running MDMS deployment in the industry.
- 2005 - The Ecologic MDMS is tested and certified by a leading systems integrator. It's proven to load, validate, estimate, edit and post billing determinants for over 10-million meters (5 million hourly and daily electric meter reads and 5 million daily gas meter reads) in less than 90 minutes.
- 2005 - Ecologic Analytics is awarded the contract to provide the MDMS for Pacific Gas & Electric's SmartMeterâ„¢ program, supporting 10.3+ million meters; the nation's largest AMI deployment.
- 2006 - The Ecologic MDMS passes the IBM security and penetration battery of tests.
- 2007 - Landis+Gyr (formerly known as Bayard Group) acquires minority stake in the company, providing it with more working capital to increase sales and marketing activity, deepen research and development capacity, and hire key executive and operational personnel.
- 2008 - Ecologic Analytics establishes a presence in the deregulated Texas market, receiving meter data management contracts from Austin Energy and Oncor.
- 2009 - Ecologic Analytics leads the industry with new offerings - an Enhanced Outage Management module and a fully CIM-compliant MDMS.
- 2010 - The Ecologic MDMS participates in the industry's first interoperability test for data exchange between utility systems using the IEC-CIM 61968 Part 9 standard.
