It's one thing to be on the leading edge of technology, it's quite another to be among those honing the blade. Back around 2000, Ecologic Analytics (then called WACS), was among the first putting forth the revolutionary idea of a meter data management system (MDMS).

Prior to that, interval data had been collected by other products. These products were geared exclusively to the industrial and commercial users. They also functioned in a more limited manner. In fact, what was in use and what MDMS proposed to achieve were as different as night and day.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) was listening closely when Ecologic Analytics presented a vision for an MDMS to consume reads for residential meters. The folks at PSE saw that the concept resonated with their own ideas.

This is the genesis of the Ecologic MDMS, a solution with its roots in validating meter reading data for the mass market.
