For a Smart Grid to work, everything has to work together. Unfortunately, each component is usually made by a different supplier, and there are few common or shared interfaces. Each manufacturer has its own way of doing things. This creates an enormous issue for the meter data management system, since it is the one piece that has to work with everything.

That's why the Ecologic Meter Data Management System (MDMS) was designed to be a sort of technology translator. It leverages service oriented architecture (SOA) strategies and common information model (CIM) methodologies that allow it to work seamlessly within existing utility environments. Not only does it work with them, it takes all the various data formats and merges then into a single, usable and sharable data format.

In simple terms, the Ecologic MDMS speaks the language of Smart Grid, and translates into a format everyone can use.
