Industry Short List Confirms Ecologic Meter Data Management System Leadership

Strong "Fit to Market Needs" and "Ownership Confidence" Define Ecologic Analytics' Overall Rating

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - January. 26, 2010: Ecologic Analytics, a leading provider of meter data management systems (MDMS) for the Smart Grid, announced today that it has received top marks in key categories within a report published last month by IDC Energy Insights, entitled "Vendor Assessment: Industry Short List for Meter Data Management — Getting to Scale" (Doc. #EI221319).

The IDC Energy Insights Industry Short List objectively evaluates MDMS providers across a set of common MDMS criteria used by utilities including:

  • Throughput
  • Response Time
  • Integration Capacity
  • Pricing Arrangements
  • Supplier's Profitability
  • Supplier's R&D Investment Level
  • Customer Satisfaction with Implementation
  • Customer Satisfaction with Ongoing Support

The IDC Short List analyzes individual criteria scores across two critical dimensions — ownership confidence and fit to market needs. IDC's in-depth review and ratings of Ecologic Analytics indicate the Ecologic MDMS solution is both an excellent fit for utilities investing in a MDMS and existing customers are highly confident in Ecologic Analytics’ offerings and support processes.

"As a company, we're focused on a collaborative environment for our customers," said Craig Mataczynski, chairman of Ecologic Analytics. "By closely partnering in this way, we continue to build a strong conduit for solution feedback that is producing tangible results for our entire user community and their stakeholders."

In recent weeks, Ecologic Analytics has announced native IEC/CIM-compliant interfaces for the Ecologic MDMS and that Smart Grid Investment Grant award recipient, Indianapolis Power & Light Company, is joining the growing group of Ecologic MDMS users.

"Smart metering is delivering exponentially greater volumes of data that can be used to support a whole range of offerings to customers. At the same time, this wealth of data can be mined for operational and business intelligence," said Jill Feblowitz, practice director (and co-author of the Industry Short List for MDM) for IDC Energy Insights. "Meter data management is a must-have technology for energy companies implementing advanced metering infrastructure (AMI)."1
