Oncor Goes Live with the MDMS from Ecologic Analytics

Enhanced Integration between Ecologic Analytics' Meter Data Management System and Landis+Gyr's Gridstream Command Center Plays Central Role in Go-Live Milestone

MINNEAPOLIS - July 15, 2009: Ecologic Analytics, a leading provider of meter data management systems (MDMS) for electric, natural gas and water utilities, announced today that Oncor has gone live with the Ecologic MDMS in the initial phase of Oncor's Smart TexasSM Advanced Metering System deployment. The solution implemented by Oncor included integration of the Ecologic MDMS with a wide variety of interfaces available in Landis+Gyr's GridstreamTM Command Center software.

"Providing validation, estimation and editing values for 15-minute interval data is a complex IT project for any utility, and we're glad to have added an experienced MDMS provider to the broader advanced meter system project team lead by IBM," said Mark Carpenter, vice president and chief information officer for Oncor. "The Ecologic Analytics product and people have proven to be an excellent choice for Oncor. Ecologic Analytics met its commitment to achieve this important go-live event just six months after joining the team."

Oncor and other North American utilities pursuing smart grid initiatives require real-time access to energy usage information and on-demand control of end-devices. To deliver on these requirements, the integration between Ecologic Analytics and Landis+Gyr relies upon service oriented architecture (SOA) protocols between the systems and uses Common Information Model (CIM) methodologies.

"Technology advancements, new regulatory standards and government stimulus programs are elevating the rate of change within utilities to new heights," said David Hubbard, chief technology officer at Ecologic Analytics. "As has now happened at Oncor, the Ecologic MDMS is being increasingly relied upon by utilities to bridge the gap between existing and new operational and business requirements. Close integration with the widely-adopted Gridstream solution is an important example of the value we offer to utilities in enabling and simplifying these significant changes."

Ecologic Analytics and Landis+Gyr have been integrating in the field for many years. In 2007, the relationship expanded into a strategic alignment with Landis+Gyr's investment. Deeper integration between the two companies gives customers an extraordinary level of coordinated advanced metering functionality.

"The alignment between the two companies provides the integrated solutions required by utilities deploying or planning smart grid initiatives," said Bob Brnilovich, senior vice president of sales for Landis+Gyr North America. "Together, we're committed to delivering compelling solutions that bring end-to-end, meter-to-cash functionality to the market."

Ecologic Analytics is focused on providing the most robust enterprise MDMS to the market, and offers close coordination with Landis+Gyr offerings, while remaining committed to independently partnering and supporting technologies based on customer requirements.
